Current Guilds

Our Guild Association is the largest volunteer association of any hospital in the nation. Guilds raise millions of dollars for Children's each year.

The small circle of friends that helped found Children's in 1907 has grown to include hundreds of groups of like-minded, compassionate individuals.

If you are a current guild officer and would like your guild's information to be included on this page, complete the Guild Profile Questionnaire. You must update the profile every year to keep it on the page.

These are some of our most active guilds:

Blue Sky Guild (2007)

The Blue Sky Guild was formed in 2007 in Seattle, Wash., with the mission of supporting uncompensated care by hosting entertaining and fun events for families. The guild’s first event was a SteveSongs Concert at the University of Washington’s Kane Hall.

Cooper Joseph Lytle (1999)

The Cooper Joseph Lytle Guild was founded in 1999, in honor of two-year-old patient Cooper Joseph Lytle, by a group of dedicated moms. Their initial project was a festive Halloween carnival. Currently, the guild presents an annual auction.

Their fundraising efforts benefit uncompensated care.

Dr. Forrest L. Flashman Guild (1969)

The Dr. Forrest L. Flashman Guild has been supporting uncompensated care at Children's since 1969.

In 1978, Flashman Guild members held the first Festival of Trees, now a Seattle holiday tradition. Guild members work throughout the year to produce a creative collection of uniquely designed Christmas trees.

The trees are different every year. Each tree is dedicated to a courageous patient treated at Children's.

The trees are on display at The Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle each November and are available for silent bid through the Season of Light Auction.

 

Dreams of Hope (2002)

The Dreams of Hope Guild was established by a group of friends wanting to help patient families in need of additional support. Initially, the guild organized toy drives, garage sales and auctions.

In 2004, the Dreams of Hope Guild inherited the long-standing Children's Hospital calendar project from the Milnora de B. Roberts Guild, who had managed it for over 30 years.

In addition to the calendar project, Dreams of Hope Guild members also host an annual auction. Their fundraising efforts benefit Children's uncompensated care.

Eleanor Henry Reed Guild (1989)

Formed in 1989, the Eleanor Henry Reed Guild has 19 members and throws a fun and glamorous fundraising party each winter.

With themes in previous years such as Winter Thaw and Where the Wild Things Are, the event was most recently called La Fete Rose — a French-inspired dinner, dance and small live auction at The Ruins dining club in Seattle.

The guild supports uncompensated care and established the Max Hanson Endowment for Brain Tumor Research.

Eternally Joyful Guild (2005)

The EJ Guild was formed in 2005 to provide support to the Child Life Department. Every summer, the guild hosts Cones for Kids, an afternoon of ice cream and fun, at the Alki Bathhouse on the beach in West Seattle.

For the Love of Jacob Guild (2003)

For the Love of Jacob Guild was founded in April 2003 — two years after Jacob died from viral encephalitis.

Our guild supports uncompensated care, research on infectious disease and Children's Journey Program. Our main fundraising event is a dinner and silent auction held in November around Jacob's birthday. Most of our members are from the Kent, Wash. area.

Frances W. Nordstrom (1985)

The Frances W. Nordstrom Guild was founded in 1985 in tribute to and in memory of Frances W. Nordstrom, a remarkable Children's Hospital volunteer and Guild Association board member.

Ms. Nordstrom was known for her tremendous spirit, deep commitment and passion for Children's Hospital.

For many years the guild held an annual auction and dinner.

In the fall of 2004, members presented their first annual Club Night. This entertaining evening featuring live music, dinner and dancing is held at The Triple Door, a performance space and lounge in Seattle.

Friends of Costco Guild (1988)

Formed in 1988, the Friends of Costco Guild began as a group of volunteers dedicated to the support of Children's uncompensated care.

Their fundraising efforts began with bowling parties and progressed to include license-plate frame sales, fashion shows, luncheons, horseracing and the production of the book Guide to Health and Wellness.

In 2000, the Friends of Costco Guild teed up the First Annual Children's Golf Classic, an event that has grown into the largest single fundraiser for Children's Hospital.

The Children's Golf Classic has raised nearly $21 million for Children's Hospital's uncompensated care.

Jack and Colleen Ryan Guild (1995)

The Jack and Colleen Ryan Guild was founded in 1995 in memory of siblings Jack and Colleen Ryan. In 2004, the guild presented its first annual Seattle Snow Ball.

A formal multigenerational event, children in seventh grade and higher are invited to a dinner dance with their parents and/or grandparents. Proceeds benefit Children's uncompensated care.

Jenna’s Wings (2005)

Jenna’s Wings was founded in 2005 and is based in Snohomish County.

The guild is dedicated to raising money for families of critically ill children who are suddenly faced with unexpected medical care and the day-to-day expenses that occur when taken away from their home to care for their sick child.

The guild’s main fundraising event is its annual golf tournament.

Jordyn Dukelow Memorial Guild (1999)

The Jordyn Dukelow Memorial Guild was founded in honor and memory of Children's Hospital patient Jordyn Dukelow by her parents and family friends.

Early projects included a golf tournament, a chili cook-off and an auction. Currently, the guild presents an annual themed auction, Cruise for a Cure. Their fundraising efforts support brain tumor research.

KC Howard Guild (1995)

In 1995, a few close friends formed the KC Howard Guild, named after Katherine Colwell (KC) Howard, granddaughter of Children's Hospital founder Anna Herr Clise.

The guild now has 45 members and is involved in several projects, including hosting its annual Holiday Luncheon & Auction every December in Seattle.

Guild members also create finger puppets and hero badges, bring donations to Children's thrift stores and participate in Purchase a Miracle by placing “shelf tags” in stores statewide, alerting shoppers to purchases that benefit Children's.

Through these fundraising efforts and the establishment of the KC Howard Endowment, the guild supports Children's Hospital's uncompensated care program.

Mary Helen Hickman Guild (1990)

The Mary Helen Hickman Guild was started in 1990 by a group of Eastside women. The guild is named after the daughter of Dr. Robert Hickman (the inventor of the Hickman catheter) who passed away at Children's after a short, but acute illness.

While involved in various projects over the years such as Purchase a Miracle and Children's Christmas Card Project, the guild is probably best known for its Lavender Luncheon — now run by the Preston Kuppe Guild. The Mary Helen Hickman Guild, which supports uncompensated care, most recently hosted a magical cirque-filled fundraiser at Teatro ZinZanni.

Mitochondrial Research Guild (2003)

The Mitochondrial Research Guild was formed in 2003 by Seattle-area families who have been closely affected by mitochondrial disease.

The guild's mission is to raise awareness, promote research and improve the quality of medical care that is available to children dealing with mitochondrial disease.

This special-interest guild holds the Cure for Mito Auction and Dinner every September at Willows Lodge in Woodinville.

The Pink Polka Dots Guild (2005)

The Pink Polka Dots Guild was formed in March 2005 just after we lost our friend Sydney Coxon to a brain tumor at the age of eleven. Since then, we’ve raised around $50,000 for pediatric brain tumor research. Some of our biggest events were a garage sale and a golf tournament. Our goal is to not let what happened to us with Sydney happen to anyone else.

Run for Children's (2005)

Established in 2005, the Run for Children's Guild was formed to manage the existing Run for Children's project.

Run for Children's is held annually at Seattle's Magnuson Park. Activities include a five-mile run/walk and a free shorter course run/walk for kids. Proceeds benefit uncompensated care.

 

Season of Light Auction (1990)

The Ned & Kayla Skinner Guild was formed in 1990 to add a dinner and silent auction component to the Dr. Forrest L. Flashman Guild's already-successful Festival of Trees fundraiser. The first combined Season of Light Auction and Festival of Trees (then called Light Up A Child's Life Auction) raised more than $100,000. Held at the now Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle, the event quickly became a popular holiday tradition for Children's Hospital supporters.

The auction has been organized by the Ned & Kayla Skinner Guild, the Mary M. Gates Guild, and currently by the Guild Association Board of Trustees.

The Season of Light Auction is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and, with the Festival of Trees, raises more than $1 million in support of uncompensated care.

SOVREN Guild (2003)

The Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts, known as SOVREN, was formed in 1986. In 1991, SOVREN members saw the potential of producing and presenting the Pacific Northwest Historics Race as a benefit event for Children's Hospital and founded the SOVREN Guild. In 2006 nearly 300 rare and beautiful vintage and historic cars competed at the 18th annual Pacific Northwest Historics race.

In 2003, the SOVREN Guild added the Kirkland Concours d'Elegance, to its fundraising efforts. In the event, 80 of the finest and most exotic classic and antique cars are on display.

The SOVREN Guild consists of 97 men and women of all ages. Since its inception, the SOVREN Guild has contributed over $5 million to uncompensated care and other programs at Children's Hospital.

Symphony Guild (1998)

For over 10 years, Mateo Messina and the Symphony Guild have produced amazing concerts in Seattle that have brought together traditional symphony sounds with legendary musicians, dancers, singers, drumlines, and more to create unforgettable evenings. We have active guild members of all ages who work together to benefit uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s.

Team Seattle (1997)

The Team Seattle Guild was founded in 1997 by professional race car driver Don Kitch and his wife, Donna, to prepare to race in the 1997 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race.

The Kitchs invited other race car drivers and racing enthusiasts, and launched a pledge campaign for each lap the team completed in the 24-hour race. The first race resulted in $80,000 for Children's Hospital.

The team's continued participation in the annual race has been one of the top fundraising events for Children's Hospital. Over its 11-year history, Team Seattle has placed first and second twice and raised over $2.6 million for Children's Heart Center.

Vala Youngquist (1993)

The Vala Younquist Guild was formed by a group of friends in tribute to and in memory of Vala Youngquist, a Mount Vernon resident who had been a member of the Ann Carlson Guild since 1945.

The members organize an annual holiday shopping trip to Portland, Ore. They also host the summer auction Soak up the Sun.

Vala Younquist Guild's fundraising efforts benefit uncompensated care at Children's.

Warren Moon & Steve Pool Golf Classic Guild (2003)

In 2003, close friends Warren Moon, Hall of Fame quarterback, and Steve Pool, KOMO 4's award-winning weatherman, started the Warren Moon & Steve Pool Golf Classic to benefit uncompensated care at Children's Hospital.

Two years later, the Warren Moon & Steve Pool Golf Classic Guild was formed.

The two-day event held in July includes a cocktail party and auction at Seattle's Museum of Flight and a celebrity golf tournament at The Golf Club in Newcastle, Wash.
