Funds Supported by Employee Campaign:

Children’s Greatest Needs

Gifts to Children’s Greatest Needs Fund help the hospital provide the best care available to sick and injured children. During fiscal year 2006, Children’s treated kids of all ages during 222,787 patient visits, including 12,325 admissions to the hospital and 31,852 visits to the Emergency Department. Gifts to Children’s Greatest Needs Fund enable Children’s to fund high-priority programs or take advantage of unique opportunities that advance the hospital’s mission.

Uncompensated Care

In fiscal year 2006, Children’s provided nearly $42 million in uncompensated care — an unprecedented amount that has doubled since 2000. Read a related story from Children’s Story Project or Guild News.

Research

Research is the foundation of Children’s mission to prevent, treat and ultimately eliminate pediatric disease. During the past year, gifts to The Campaign for Children’s helped the hospital establish the Seattle Children’s Hospital Research Institute and dramatically expand its capacity. The institute will help Children’s attract the brightest investigators, discover innovative treatments and cures, and translate those discoveries into clinical practices that benefit children everywhere. These stories exemplify Children’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of children and their families:

Caring for Kids

Guided by the hospital’s mission and strategic plan, a committee of Children’s staff will decide how and where to use contributions designated for this special employee fund. Its overall objective will be to advance the hospital’s mission by:

  • Improving services to patients and families
  • Fostering innovation among staff
  • Encouraging continual process improvement
  • Elevating the visibility and prominence of Children’s staff and services regionally, nationally and internationally
  • Enhancing staff development and expertise
